About Us

Capital City Sound is the result of a merger

in August 2013 between existing choruses Treasure Valley Showtime Chorus, Jerrie Beyrodt, director, and Syringa Sound Chorus, Andy Maddox, Director.  The directors of each chorus now co-direct Capital City Sound. The two choral groups had been very successful in the Treasure Valley, and the resulting merger created a chorus with more voices, energy and dynamism.  We sing exciting four-part a cappella barbershop harmony. But this isn't your grandmother's style of barbershop!  The songs, even the older "standards," are arranged into jazzy upbeat pieces that are fun to sing and perform, and great to hear.

Capital City Sound is a Sweet Adelines

International chorus.  Treasure Valley Showtime originally chartered with Sweet Adelines International in 1970; Syringa Sound chartered in 2010.   Internationally, there are approximately  25,000 members in countries around the globe including European nations, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and barbershop singing is one of the hottest new hobbies for women today.

Our mission is to provide an opportunity for

girls and women of all ages to learn how to sing in the barbershop style and to form lasting friendships.  We rehearse weekly and perform throughout the year at venues ranging from private parties to community events.  We wear costumes with sparkle and put on entertaining shows for our audiences whether it's for residents in assisted living, on stage at a holiday show, on a parade float or river boat.

Our name Capital City Sound refers to the

fact that chorus rehearsals are held in Boise, the proud capital of the State of Idaho.  In actuality, however, our members come from all over the Treasure Valley -- Eagle, Star, Meridian, Nampa, Emmett -- and as far away as Twin Falls and Ontario, Oregon.  The Treasure Valley is rich, fertile agricultural land, but Boise is a modern, bustling city.  We are honored to be part of its thriving artistic community and the musical heritage that has strong roots here.
